About Our SIG
Welcome to the Special Interest Group in Libraries and Librarianship (SIG-LIB). We are a special interest group of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). We examine:
- Librarian aspects: copyright issues, ethic issues, metadata preservation, academic librarian, public librarian, government librarian, cultural and heritage preservation.
- Digitization aspects: digitization policies, electronic access and authentication, software, hardware, and peopleware resources supporting digital library services, networked infrastructures, distributed databases, database management.
- Smart aspects: large language models, generative AI, knowledge graph, natural language processing, machine learning, big data.
SIG-LIB also works to facilitate increased international, interdisciplinary and inter-societal collaboration focusing on libraries and related issues.

How to Join
To be a member, one first needs to be a member of the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T). When completing the Membership Application Form, select the special interest group (SIG) of your choice.
