Please note the following ASIS&T 2021 Annual Meeting Health and Safety Protocols. The safety of Annual Meeting attendees, speakers, and staff is of utmost importance to ASIS&T. While there are no local or state-wide mandates effect in Salt Lake City, to make the Annual Meeting as safe as possible for attendees and staff, ASIS&T has adopted the following guidelines for all in-person meeting attendees.
- We recommend that all attendees be fully vaccinated.
- We require that all attendees wear masks while attending the meeting. We will have masks available should anyone need one and the hotel has hand sanitizer in all meeting rooms and gathering spaces.
- As there should be adequate space in meeting rooms, we require all attendees socially distance during sessions.
- We recommend that presenters remove masks only while talking at the podium (if they are comfortable) so everyone can hear and for the quality of the recording. Presenters will be more than 6’ from attendees.
- The hotel requires all staff to wear masks at all times.

Don't have iOS or Android? Skip Step 1 and go straight to Step 2 to verify your account and use the mobile web version of the app.
Step 2: Using the device you intend to use for the meeting, check for an email from Crowd Compass and click Verify Account to unlock all the features of the app.
If you already have the 2019 app on your device: Tap on Verify account which should take you to the new event directly. If you are on the 2019 event, tap on three lines on the top left and then tap on the switch event which will take you to the event directory page where you will see the 2021 event pre-loaded.
Important: Only meeting registrants will be able to download the app. Get the most up-to-date, real-time information to help you navigate and plan your participation with your own personalized schedule, speaker and session information, attendee directory, notifications, and more... all at your fingertips!
In order to fully participate in the meeting, we recommend you bring a laptop in order to attend the virtual poster session and for some sessions which may utilize zoom breakout rooms.
All sessions (except for the posters) will be held at the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown at City Creek, located at 75 S W Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101 (there are several Marriott hotels in the area so be sure you go to this address).
The all-day poster viewing, the poster session and President’s Reception will be held on Monday, 1 November, at the Salt Palace Convention Center. This is located directly across the street from the Marriott.

- Hotel has a restaurant and lounge onsite. There is also a Starbucks in the lobby.
- There are also many restaurant and shopping options just a few steps from the hotel at the City Creek Mall
There are even more restaurant options within walking distance to the hotel.

October Weather: Fall in Salt Lake is a time of transition. Nearby canyons are filled with vibrant colors as the trees prepare for winter, while temperatures remain warm enough for comfortable outdoor recreation. Evenings can be chilly and toward the end of Fall snow is typical in both mountains and valley. The Ski Salt Lake resorts have had enough snow to open as early as Halloween, with typical opening days in mid to late November. Valley Average Highs/Lows °F : September 78/57, October 65/46, November 50/35.
To and From the Airport
Salt Lake City International Airport is closer to the city it serves than nearly any other airport—only ten minutes by car from downtown. Trax Light-Rail provides service from the Airport to downtown Salt Lake.
From the airport, board the Green Line for a 20-minute ride to the Temple Square stop at 155 S West Temple. It’s a five minute walk to the hotel. Fare is $2.50 and trains run every 15 minutes. Weekday service begins at 5:30 PM and runs until 11:30 PM. Get complete route and schedule details for Salt Lake's public transportation at www.rideuta.com. UTA offers route and transit information in a variety of languages through its interpreter program. This program is available by phone. Ground Transportation
Ground transportation in Salt Lake comes in a wide variety of options. Many hotels offer complimentary airport shuttle service. Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides mass transit via busses and TRAX light-rail from the airport and throughout the Salt Lake area, including the mountain resorts. Taxi, bus, shuttle, and limousine companies provide door-to-door service. If you choose to drive, the downtown parking app makes it easy to get around.
The accepted currency is US Dollars (US) which comes in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 notes. Coins come in 1, 5, 10, and 25 cents.
Banks & Foreign Exchange: Bank operating hours vary between banks but most banks opening hours are 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Monday – Thursday and 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Friday. Many banks are open Saturday 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Check with individual banks websites for full opening hours. ATMs are located throughout the city, additionally some supermarkets and convenience stores have cash withdrawal facilities. VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Dinners are readily accepted throughout the city. Foreign exchange facilities are available at the airport. In smaller amounts, most hotels are able to exchange currency without a fee.
Tipping: Most hotels and restaurants do not add service charges to your bill, and tipping is always your choice, and is not required. A courtesy gratuity for housekeeping in your hotel room is $1 or @ daily. For food and beverages, 15-20% gratuity is customary.
Salt Lake City and shopping have gone hand in hand for over a century. The first department store in the United States opened for business right here in 1868. Right out the door of the hotel, City Creek Center offers a mix of luxury retailers, unique-to-market stores and trusted brands, from Louis Vuitton, Coach, Kendra Scott and Tiffany & Co. to Salomon and Lululemon, as well as Nordstrom and Macy's. City Creek Center also offers a variety of dining options and a food court. City Creek Center is a must-see attraction, with a fully tractable glass roof that opens and closes, unique to any shopping center in the United States. A pedestrian sky bridge over Main Street unifies the center on two city blocks. Water features include a creek that runs through the center, a fishpond with local trout and waterfalls. The America First Credit Union Fountain offers must-see hourly shows and feature shows with three choreographed songs at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Fire elements are added to the fountain shows after dusk. Visitors to Salt Lake City can receive a complimentary Passport to Shopping which includes offers from over 60 stores and restaurants. Today the Salt Lake Valley offers plenty of possibilities for terrific shopping excursions, including malls, shopping villages, specialty shops, antique and collectible shops, stores for books & music, factory outlet malls, outdoor shopping and entertainment destinations, and much more.

Salt Lake is a great place to begin your visit to National Parks, Recreation Areas, State Parks, or wilderness areas. You can find more information about State and National parks at VisitSaltLake.com, on the US Park Service site, or on the Utah State Parks site.
See a Mormon Tabernacle Choir performance. There are generally two opportunities per week to see and hear the choir. Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. Please visit the choir website for locations, times, and special performances.
Float in the Great Salt Lake: Antelope Island State Park is a short drive to the North on I-15. There you will find improved beaches and showers at Bridger Bay. The lake is so salty that you will float like a cork!
