SIG STI Webinar: Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs): Capturing Laboratory Activity As It Happens
Wendy Kozlowski from Cornell University, Evan Simpson from Tufts University and Kristin Bogdan from Yale University will talk about how their libraries have worked with others across campus to provide access to ELN software, incorporating ELNs as part of the larger research data management support system, and some possible future directions for ELNs in academic libraries.

Presenters
Wendy Kozlowski is the Data Curation Specialist and coordinator of the Research Data Management Service Group at Cornell University. Wendy’s work focuses on issues related to the data curation lifecycle, metadata for science data, outreach and consultation on information management and other needs related to research data. She has a B.A. in biology from Boston University and a M.S. in ecology from San Diego State University, and prior to coming to Cornell, did biology and oceanography research, working on multi-disciplinary data sets with teams from institutions both in and outside the United States.
Evan Simpson is the Head of Research and Instruction at Tisch Library, Tufts University, serving the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. During the last few years Evan has worked with libraries and IT units across Tufts University to develop research data management services. He is currently serving on the project team for Tufts’s implementation of two Electronic Lab Notebook platforms. He has a B.A. in African American Studies from the College of Wooster and a Masters in Science and Information Science from the University at Albany. Prior to Tufts, Evan worked at Brandeis University and the New York State Library.
Kristin Bogdan is a Science and Social Science Data Librarian at the Center for Science and Social Science Information at Yale University. Kristin has been working on providing Electronic Lab Notebook services to the Yale community as part of the larger Research Data Consultation program. She has a B.Sc. in geology and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. Before she came to Yale, Kristin worked as a geologist and then a data manager in the mineral exploration industry in Canada.
