Xiaoqian (Zoey) Zhang, Chair
Xiaoqian (Zoey) Zhang is a doctoral student at the School of Information Studies, McGill University. She holds a master’s degree in library and information science. Her doctoral research explores the health information behaviour of older adults. Her research interest includes information behaviour, health information-seeking, health informatics, and information divide. She currently serves as Chair of the ASIS&T McGill Student Chapter.
Owen Stewart-Robertson, Chair-Elect
Owen is a first-year doctoral student at the School of Information Studies, McGill University (Montreal, QC), supervised by Prof. Rebekah Willson. He holds masters degrees in information and library science (State University of New York at Buffalo) and music performance (McGill). His research interests include information behavior/practices, information creation, creative processes, performance documentation, embodied and affective information, precarity/precariousness, and inclusion and equity in the arts.
Richmond Yeboah, Treasurer
Richmond Yeboah is a PhD student at McGill’s School of Information Studies, working with Prof. Joan Bartlett. He studies the online information seeking behaviour of students and health professionals. His research concentrates on the role access and access restrictions.
Saiyan Islam, Master’s Student Representative
Saiyan is a second-year student of Master of Information Studies (MISt) at McGill University also serving as the 2nd-Year master's students representative at McGill's ASIS&T Student Chapter. His interest lies in the following areas: Data Science, Knowledge Management and Business Analytics. For work experience, Saiyan held the position of Learning and Support Facilitator under BRAC Institute of Educational Development. Prior to coming to McGill. Saiyan earned a graduate degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) program under University of Dhaka majoring in Management Information System (MIS) and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from BRAC University in 2016.
Edwin Madera, Web manager and Communications officer
Edwin is a second-year master’s student in Information Studies and serves as the Web manager/Communication Officer for the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T). His interests revolve around Data Science, Knowledge Management, Metadata, Information Policy and Digital Media. His recent work experiences consist of him interning at the University of Kentucky’s Information Technology Service Center dealing with cybersecurity work, reviewing/updating, and creating policy while also publishing articles regarding ransomware. Edwin has also worked as an Information Technology Consultant for St. Francis Animal Hospital dealing with record cataloging & website management. Before attending McGill Edwin earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Communication Technology at the University of Kentucky in 2020.
Dr Rebekah Willson, Faculty Advisor
Dr. Rebekah (Becky) Willson is an assistant professor at the School of Information Studies at McGill University (Montréal, Canada). Before coming to McGill, Dr Willson was a Lecturer in Information Science in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. Dr Willson’s research is in the field of information behaviour and information practices, particularly focusing on individuals who are undergoing transitions and living with uncertainty. Dr Willson is the Immediate Past Chair of SIG-USE (ASIS&T’s Special Interest Group for Information Use, Seeking, and Needs), the Vice-Chair of the ASIS&T Research Engagement Committee, and an editor for JASIS&T.
