Fawzi Shamsi works at the Eastern Mediterranean University in North Cyprus. He was born in Aleppo, Syria in 1984. He studied his pre-university levels in Aleppo, and then he enrolled in the English language and literature program at Aleppo University in 2003. He did his master’s degree in English language teaching at the higher institute for languages at Aleppo University. In 2017, he started his PhD in Foreign Language Education at the Eastern Mediterranean University and graduated in 2022. His thesis title was “An Investigation of Doctoral Students’ Publication Experiences in a ‘Publish or No Degree’ Context”. Career Fawzi started working as an English teacher at different private schools in Aleppo between 2007 and 2012. He had several roles as an English teacher and coordinator. In 2013, he fled from his country to Turkey, where he started working at Hasan Kalyoncu University in Gaziantep City. In 2014, he received a TOT certificate and became a trainer for teachers about teaching methodologies. He trained several groups in Turkey, Syria, and Sudan. His research interests are academic writing, teacher education, teaching via technology, and second language acquisition. So far, he has published several articles, and some of which are indexed in highly prestigious indexes (Ex. SSCI, SCI, SCOPUS, etc.).
