Using Member Survey Data to Shape the Future of ASIS&T
At ASIS&T, our members are at the heart of everything we do. We recently conducted a comprehensive member survey to better understand your needs, priorities, and aspirations for our association. The insights gathered are invaluable, and we are excited to share how we intend to leverage this data to enhance your experience and strengthen ASIS&T’s impact.
Identifying Key Priorities
The survey responses have provided us with a clearer picture of what matters most to our members. Recurring themes include:
- Professional Development: A strong interest in expanded training, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities. This includes a desire for more professional development to support teaching and curriculum design.
- Research & Knowledge Sharing: A request for greater access to high-quality research, discussions on emerging topics, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Financial Support: Members are asking both for direct financial support from ASIS&T as well as support in finding funding from other sources.
- Reviewer/Editor Support: A request that ASIS&T provide more support in the form of training and recognition to reviewers.
- Improved Communication: The results of the survey demonstrate that we are not doing a good enough job helping members understand and access their benefits.
Your Voice Matters
We want to ensure that ASIS&T remains responsive to the evolving needs of our members. If you have additional thoughts or suggestions, we encourage you to reach out, participate in discussions, and stay engaged. Your input is instrumental in shaping the future of our organization.
Your feedback is a critical piece of input to the ASIS&T strategic planning process. While some member requests are not feasible due to financial constraints, many will be acted upon through the strategic plan.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey. Your insights are not only appreciated but essential in guiding ASIS&T’s continued growth and service to the global information science community. We look forward to building a stronger, more connected ASIS&T—together.
