SIG-IEP: Officer Positions Available - Nominate Yourself to Serve ASIS&T

The Special Interest Group Information Ethics & Policy (SIG IEP) is seeking nominations to fill four vacant officer positions for 2024-25, including Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster, and Cabinet Representative. Don't miss an opportunity to serve as one of the executive officers at SIG IEP.

The deadline to nominate your name for the above-said roles will be Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

SIG-III: Call For Papers - International Paper Contest (IPC) 

The Special Interest Group on International Information Issues (SIG-III) of the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) invites research papers from the library and information science (LIS) professionals of developing countries for the 25th International Paper Contest (IPC). The winners of the IPC-2025 will be awarded in the 88th Annual Meeting of the ASIS&T, which will take place in Washington, DC from 14-18 November 2025. The theme of the Annual Meeting is: "Difficult Conversations: The Role of Information Science in the Age of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence". The Special Interest Group for International Information Issues is pleased to share our winter newsletter, with updates on activities and news from key initiatives, including the International Paper Contest, the InfoShare Membership Award, and Research Wing.

SIG-III: Research Wing - Call for Mentors and Mentees

The Research Wing of the Special Interest Group for International Information Issues (SIG III) of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) was established to facilitate informal but lasting and fruitful research collaborations and for capacity building of researchers in library and information-related disciplines.

We are calling for applications for mentors and mentees to sign up for this exciting opportunity by the 23rd of March 2025. Please complete the online application through the link given below.

Only SIG-III members can apply as mentors and mentees. If you are not a member, we invite you to obtain membership and join the initiative.

  • Mentors and Mentees will work collaboratively for one year, from June 2025 to May 2026.
  • Mentors and mentees can work together to design and implement a new research project or work on existing projects.
  • All communications must be carried out through the i-Connect platform.
  • Mentor and Mentees will sign a memorandum of understanding after the "match".
  • Mentors and mentees will be matched by SIG-III Research Wing based on the following criteria.
    • Research interests of mentees and expertise of mentors
    • Availability of mentors
    • Type and level of guidance needed by mentees.
    • Expertise and track record of mentors and mentees.
    • Ensure regional representation and equality.
  • All communications must be carried out through the i-Connect platform.

SIG-III: Information Science Pub Quiz

The ASIST Europe Chapter & SIG-III warmly invite all interested information scholars, educators, and students to an exciting Information Science Pub Quiz, a brain-teasing event designed to challenge and entertain via Zoom on 3 April 2025 at 3pm BST / 4pm CET (see in your time zone here).

The Chapter & SIG have together created a fun-filled session of trivia questions and challenges to test your knowledge of international information science; the quiz will unfold in engaging rounds to puzzle and entertain attendees before winners are announced at the end of the event.

Registration is free for ASIST Members, 10 USD for non-members, and 5 USD for student non-members.
