NEASIS&T Executive Committee Recap – January 2025

Happy New Year from NEASIS&T! As we kick off 2025, I’m thrilled to share some updates from the Executive Committee and reminders about upcoming chapter activities!

NEASIS&T 2025 Annual Conference
Our annual conference is just over two months away! Please save the date for Tuesday, April 1. The theme this year is “Voices through Data: Integrating Information Science, Storytelling, and Digital Literacy.” Registration will open in early February.

We had a great response to our call for proposals this year, and thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal! The Programming Committee, under the leadership of Saira Soroya, is hard at work reviewing this year’s submissions. We’ll share additional details about the conference schedule and speakers in the weeks ahead. For now, mark your calendars!

NEASIS&T Survey
The Executive Committee is finalizing questions for our survey, which will be shared with both members and non-members in the coming weeks. We’re eager to hear from you about your interests and how our Chapter can better support you in your professional development. Your participation is greatly appreciated and will help shape the chapter’s priorities for the coming year. Please keep an eye out for the survey announcement – we’d love to hear your thoughts!

Awards Committee Update
As mentioned at our member meeting in November, this year we will be working to standardize our awards process and expand opportunities for chapter members to participate as reviewers. NEASIS&T member Matt Arsenault has graciously offered to lead this effort, and we’re excited to collaborate with him in the months ahead! More information about the awards and how you can participate will be shared later this spring.

Get Involved
As always, if you have questions, ideas, or advice, or would like to get more involved, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any member of the Executive Committee via iConnect or email (neasist@gmail.com). We’re here to support you and look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you!
