Dr. Timothy J. Dickey is an Adult Services Librarian with the Columbus (OH) Metropolitan Library, and a library science educator with Kent State University, San José State University, and ALA’s eLearning division. His research and teaching span library reference, service to diverse communities, emerging technologies, data mining, history of the book, and music and humanities librarianship.
Dr. Dickey is the 2022 recipient of the ALA-RUSA Margaret E. Monroe Award for Library Adult Services, recognizing his holistic contributions to the field of LIS as a practitioner, educator, and researcher. His most recent book Library Dementia Services: How to Meet the Needs of the Alzheimer Community was published in 2020 by Emerald Press. Prior to his current positions, he served as a Post-doctoral Researcher with Lynn Silipigni Connaway at the OCLC Office of Research, including work with an IMLS grant project evaluating virtual reference services. His Ph.D. is from Duke University, and M.L.I.S. from Kent State University.
An ASIS&T member for 16 years, and a member of the inaugural 2021 class of Distinguished Members, Dr. Dickey has extensively worked to develop ASIS&T components, including multiple Chapters and numerous Committees. He has prior ASIS&T Board experience as Chapter Assembly Director (2017-2019).
