State Library of Ohio tour

The State Library of Ohio is a state agency that serves state government, all types of libraries, and residents. The State Library also serves the community:
1) directly, by building and managing quality collections and providing hands-on service to state government,
2) cooperatively, through collaborative efforts and information sharing networks such as OhioLINK, the Ohio Digital Library, Serving Every Ohioan, and Ohio Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled and,
3) virtually, through online and on-the-go access to expert assistance, digitized resources, and a vast selection of electronic materials.

Patrons use the State Library collections to research information about congressional hearings and reports, U.S. and State of Ohio legislative history, statistics, facts about the state of Ohio, geological information, military rosters, state institutional and agency reports, census data, and more. The State Library is the only regional federal depository in Ohio and is also a depository for state information. When visiting the library, patrons will find Federal documents, State of Ohio documents, Ohio codes, non-fiction related to state government work, special materials related to State Library services (such as Choose to Read Ohio and Floyd Dickman Children’s Literature collections), and a specific Deafness and Outreach collection targeted toward interpreters, American Sign Language students, parents, and professionals working within the deaf community.

Our tour will be conducted in parts by a few different State Library staff, including: Nicole Merriman, Head of Research and Catalog Services, Tracy Grimm, Head of Circulation and Special Services (including the Talking Book Program), Shannon Kupfer-Trausch, Digital Initiatives Librarian, and Kirstin Krumsee, Library Consultant for Government Documents. We will also have an introduction from a special, surprise guest.
