CAS (Chemical Abstract Service)

Registration is now open for the third event in the 2018 edition of our award-winning Summer of Tours! For this tour, we will be visiting CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service), a division of the American Chemical Society. Our speakers, Dr. Matthew Toussant (Sr. VP, Product Content Operations) and Dr. Michael W. Dennis, Esq. (VP, Legal, PMO, Innovation) will talk with us about the history of CAS as well as how they identify and ingest raw scientific content from around the world to harmonize it and make it more discoverable, ultimately driving value and knowledge to customers. The program will conclude with Kris Woods (Director, IT Infrastructure and Operations) providing a tour for us through the CAS Data Center.

Dr. Matthew Toussant is responsible for building all CAS databases, provides leadership for new products and content, and leads product capabilities developed for SciFinder and STN. His unit is accountable for services CAS provides under the United States Environmental Protection Agency contract in support of the Toxic Substances Control Act. Dr. Toussant’s duties as head of database operations date to 1998, and his role with Products began in March 2014. He holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University, specializing in food chemistry and nutritional biochemistry.

Dr. Michael Dennis is responsible for all CAS legal matters, including licensing of intellectual property (IP); the CAS Program Management Office (PMO), which executes CAS’s Strategic Projects; CAS Innovation, which innovates transformative solutions for existing and new customers, and CAS Strategy working with the CAS President and Leadership Team. Dr. Dennis joined CAS in 1997. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Ohio State University, and his JD from Capital University.

REGISTER here by Wednesday, June 13. For security purposes, registration is required.
Registrants will enter through the Main Entrance of the Robert J. Massie Building and stop at security to pick up their visitor badge.
