Forensic, Forensic Librarianship : We Have a Story to Tell
SEA, Ltd. is a multi-disciplined forensic engineering and fire investigation company specializing in failure analysis, research, and testing. SEA is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio with 11 regional offices across the U.S. Join the library staff as we discuss how we keep our services relevant and contribute to the financial growth and success of our organization. The program will cover the evolution of the library, the development of a research consulting service, and the creation of a unique repository of materials in support of key research. The program will also include a tour of the libraries, the candle testing laboratory, vehicle testing facilities, and the chemistry lab.
Our speakers:
Pat Connor has been with SEA, Ltd. over 9 years as Research Librarian located at SEA corporate headquarters in Columbus. She is responsible for library oversight and supports forensic investigators’ information research needs in SEA’s 11 offices in the US. Research includes laws, regulations, industry codes and standards, literature and patent searches, product information and recalls, Freedom of Information Act requests, and news and media. She possesses a Master of Science in Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University (2006). In addition, she has Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Arts in Adult and Continuing Education degrees.
Lisa Elliott specializes in the organization, management, and cataloging of all library resources for SEA, Ltd. Prior to joining SEA in 2010, she worked for OCLC cataloging resources for a variety of libraries across the U.S. in all formats including sound recordings, video, maps, and digital documents. Upon coming to SEA, Lisa was tasked with designing a web-based library system that could be accessed across 11 offices and allow for discovery of more than 20,000 items including engineering standards, technical papers, codes, and manuals in both print and digital form. Lisa received her MLS from Indiana University and recently obtained a post-Master’s Certification in the Curation and Management of Digital Assets from the University of Maryland’s iSchool.
