Catalogs … The Next Generation

For years, we have struggled to bring libraries and customers closer together by developing public access catalogs that are easy to use and understand.  At the same time, new technologies have progressed at warp speed and information access has evolved dramatically.  Are we meeting the challenge successfully?  Learn more by coming to a special panel discussion at this CO-ASIS&T presentation:

“Catalogs … The Next Generation”

Want to know more about AquaBrowser, Encore, or WorldCat Local?  These are some of the newest public access catalogs in use today, and we’ll be discussing them with our panel: Morag Boyd from The Ohio State University, Amy Fothergill & Maria Armitage from Columbus Metropolitan Library, and Jessi Weithman from the Westerville Public Library.

Columbus Metropolitan Library implemented AquaBrowser in 2007 and since that time, has continued to add features to enhance the catalog.  Amy and Maria will discuss additional functionality and features that have been added since implementation, including the addition of social networking tools.  Westerville Public Library has worked with III as an Encore beta development partner since the birth of the product in 2006.  Westerville staff continue to work closely with the III team to improve the product and have recently rolled out version 3.0 of the software.  Our third panelist, Morag Boyd is Metadata Librarian in Special Collections at The Ohio State University Libraries and will discuss OSU’s use of WorldCat Local.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, June 18th!
